Have you noticed that people are becoming
busier nowadays? We are tied up by daily activities every day. There are lots
of holidays and vacations to plan for, lots of festivals to work out fancy party
menus for, lots of networking events to participate in, lots of emails to read
and reply to and lots of news to read about everyday.
Because of my busy life ,I always stayed up
quite late at night recently .I could not go to bed until 12am or even later.
When I was in bed, I was thinking about what I am busy with today. And what are
the most important things in my life?
Everybody is striving to stay healthy and
happy. Sometimes it seems that we set too many targets for ourselves. It is said
that if you do not have time to rest ,then one day you will have time to be
sick.
So how to stay healthy?
Firstly, doing exercise make people
healthy; “If exercise were a pill, it would be one of the most cost-effective
drugs ever invented,” says Dr Nick Cavill, a health promotion consultant.
People are less active nowadays. Technology has made people’s lives much
easier. Most people drive to work so they walk very little everyday . Some just
walks from the parking lot to their office and that’s the only exercise for
them in a day. Besides private cars ,there is lots of convenient public
transport in our modern life .The sky train or metro has made people’s commute
much easier and faster ,the stations are widely spread over the cities. After
only a few minutes walk people can arrive at a sky train station, metro station
or bus stop
People now are living a sedentary life most
of the time. At home , work or on the transport, they sit always.
As a result of lacking exercise, lots of
people are suffering from some major illness such as diabetes or one of the three
highs- high blood pressure, high blood sugar ,high cholesterol, which often
leads to heart disease, stroke or cancer.
Some cancer researchers have said that
cancer patients’ inner environment is an acidic one, which is the environment
that cancer cells love to live in. By doing more exercise, at least 30 minutes
a day can help to turn an acidic environment into an alkaline one. And cancer
cells can hardly live in an alkaline environment.
It’s also proved that the blood cells of
cancer patients lack oxygen. Normal cells are round and full of oxygen ,but
cancer cells are wrinkled and badly shaped because of lacking oxygen. Doing
exercise can help the body to have more oxygen.
Lots of evidence shows the benefits of
doing exercise. It’s important if you want to live a healthy and fulfilling
life into old age. People who do regular exercise can lower their risk of
having heart disease and stroke, lower their risk of having diabetes and lower
their risk to have cancer. Exercise can enable people to feel energetic and keep
them looking youthful, too.
Secondly, have a healthy diet; People who
eat lots of meat and sweet food have much higher risk of having those major
diseases such as diabetes, stroke and cancer, too. Besides that, they are
easily to become so overweight that they experience lots of inconvenience in
their lives.
What is a healthy diet? A healthy diet is a
balanced one. In general, carbohydrate food should make up one third of your
meal , one third is from vegetable and fruits, and another one third comes from
dairy foods and protein. People should avoid some unhealthy food such as deep
fried foods, high sugar desserts or food with high fat such as lard.
It is recommended by cancer researchers
that a diet containing more fruits and vegetables and less meat helps people
walk away from cancer to a certain extent.
Lastly, focusing on being positive. Be positive
and have a healthy mindset is a very important life style. Not only does being positive
feel good ,it also has lots of benefits such as having a good health, a smooth
relationship with people ,a nice appearance ,a good sleep, longer life and more
success in work.
Positive is like a magic pill that can be
influential. I used to meet with some friends who liked to complain about everything,
they complained about life , school, children, friends ,government , society and
almost everything. I felt after each conversation with them, my mood got
infected, too. Then I realized that they were spreading their negative mood to
me and made me feel pessimistic.
I am not saying that being successful in
life, being a nice parent or husband or wife, being a nice child, taking good
care of your family are not important. However, in order to be able to do these
things, you need to go above them and look at the back of those facts. The
three most important things for an overall successful life are doing appropriate
exercise, correct and sensible eating habits and upbeat mental attitude, they
are the foundation for all the things that rest in.
